This program aims to impact comprehensive development by implementing projects and activities through a participatory approach. capacity building with rural women being a priority target to it. HAD encourages self-dependency and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through:
- Enhancing family income-generation.
- Improving quality of local products.
- Better marketing of local products.
- Creating new job opportunities.
- Reducing rate of unemployment.
- Enhanced family food security strategies.
HAD's social empowerment projects range from spinning and weaving in Yemen, to pasta and macaroni manufacturing machines, fishing nets and boultery in southern Sudan to small oil mills, soap manufacturing and maize mills in southern Kordofan state in Sudan. Rural women centers in the southern Blue Nile state cater for building rural woman capacity in farming, nutrition, and improving handicraft-making skills.
